Public Administration

The program of public administration, relying on a strong group of teaching staff from Peking University and the National School of Administration, taking the interdisciplinary advantage of politics, administration regulation, economics, policy science, and human resources, fosters a first class group of high-ranking and senior leaders for the government so as to meet the practical need of the government agencies, and enterprises, and produces first class professors and experts for teaching and research in top universities and colleges, and academic institutions.

The program consists of five sub-fields of studies: administrative management, public economy, human resource studies, and Chinese government management studies, audit management. The program also plays a leading role in teaching and training MPA students in Peking University.


Public Policy

 

The program of public policy is established as the first-ranking discipline, and aims at fostering research talents of public policy studies with outstanding knowledge of theories, methods, and tools of public policy. Taking the advantage of the schools rich experience in theoretical studies of public policy and hand-on policy analysis in the process of public policy making and implementing, and with our scholarly excellence in political science and administration, interacting with research and teaching staff in social sciences like economics, management, law, and sociology in the university, the program of public policy in Peking University is an ideal training place for scholars and practitioners of public policy.

The program includes the following sub-fields of studies: public policy theories, public policy quantification studies, and economic analysis of public policy. Each sub-field maintains the aim of integrating theoretical training with fieldwork. Students can take courses, join group discussion, and engage in hand-on analysis of specific policy and dissertation work.


Development Management

 

Development is a key issue of contemporary international and internal communities, and also an inter-disciplinary issue. The teaching and research focus of this program is to analyze development problems from the perspective of public management, particularly emphasizing state development strategy and the context of political economy. "Development management" can be interpreted horizontally and vertically. Horizontally, development management is the rein and guide of public sectors over economic development, social development, and other dimensions of national development; vertically, development management explores development issues from national macro development to micro development like the development of enterprises and communities.
